TYPE 260 |
|
General
|
With the raku kiln Type 260 you have sufficient space to fire a bigger piece or multiple smaller and still have space to move around with your raku tongs to get a good grip to unload the ware. An average heating duration time amounts to approx. 1 hour. With 11 Kg Shell propane gas tank you can fire this kiln 5 to 7 times. Peak gas pressure that you require during the last part of the firing is approx. 0,8 Bar. More technical details here: Techn. details Type 260

We only use brand new and totally clean barrels for manufacturing our kilns.
The casing of the kiln type 260 is made of a 1 mm thick 210 ltr. steel barrel. At the top we give it a curled edge and we mount a hot dip galvanised clamping ring for additional rigidity and to make the kiln more durable.

Both casing and cover are fitted with galvanised steel grips.

Insulation
|
We use Superwool 607HT the first true, low bio persistent fibre with a classification temperature of 1300°C.
The flue gas hole in the insulation blanket is cut slightly smaller than the flue gas port in the cover. Just a small detail but useful. It avoids that small flakes of metal that may come loose from the flue gas port fall into the kiln and spoils your carefully prepared ware that is being fired. The insulation blanked has a thickness of 50 mm. and is secured with Kanthal wire and ceramic blocks. To protect the insulation blanket from the propane flame we have mounted 2 ceramic protection shelves opposite of the burner port.
